The bride wore the Savoy-Aosta Tiara, on loan from her uncle, the Archduke of Austria-Este, with diamond and sapphire earrings, and later Empress Elisabeth’s Diamond Stars. Members of the German and Austrian Royalty and Aristocracy were in attendance, including the bride’s uncle and aunt, The Archduke of Austria-Este and Princess Astrid of Belgium, Grand Duchess Maria Theresa, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie, Prince Félix and Princess Claire of Luxembourg, Prince Nikolaus and Princess Margaretha, and Prince Josef Emanuel of Liechtenstein, Hereditary Prince Ferdinand and Hereditary Princess Viktoria Luise zu Leiningen.

I love that she wore Empress Sissi’s stars in her hair! They’re so beautiful, interspersed in her dark hair! I wished she would place her tiara a bit further back, though, and maybe not so square on top of her head. Or perhaps add a bit more height to her coiffure in the front and so be more flattering to her face? I think it is a lovely tiara, but somewhat difficult to place.
The so-called “stars” are no doubt a jeweler’s interpretation of Sissi’s favorite flower: the Edelweiss.
