Princess Märtha Louise’s Moonstone Parure

Happy Birthday to Princess Märtha Louise of Norway, who turns 47 today! As the only daughter of King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway, and the only Princess of the Blood of her generation, Princess Märtha Louise has developed quite a nice jewellery collection, which includes this Moonstone and Diamond Demi-Parure.

First worn by Princess Märtha Louise at then Crown Prince Harald’s 50th Birthday Gala in 1987, when she was 15, and not yet old enough to wear a Tiara. The suite has an antique design and was a Confirmation gift from her parents.

Princess Märtha Louise notably wore her Moonstone and Diamond Demi-Parure for a series of portraits taken to mark her Engagement to Ari Behn in 2001.

While not one of her most worn jewels, the suite has been worn to a variety of weddings, including the Pre-Wedding Gala of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, the Wedding of Prince Joachim of Denmark, and the Pre-Wedding Gala of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. There is no doubt we will continue to see the Demi-Parure for years to come.

UPDATE- Princess Märtha Louise wore the Moonstone Parure at the Wedding of Princess Alexandra of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and Count Michael Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille, one of her first family events with her new boyfriend.

Princess Märtha Louise wore the Moonstone and Diamond Suite with a Valentino dress in a series of portraits released to mark her 50th Birthday in 2021.

  1. This is a very nice demi-parure. I don’t wear moonstone myself, but the stone looks particularly good on Princess Martha Louise. If she were to be participating in more events where she needed a tiara, this would be a candidate to complete the parure. 🙂
