The Queen, accompanied by the Prince of Wales, Princess Royal and Sir Tim, attended the annual Braemar Highland Gathering in Braemar, Ballater, Aberdeenshire on September 3rd. The Queen and her children opened the The Duke of Rothesay Highland Games Pavilion at the Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park before being driven to their stand on Royal Deeside, and sat down after meeting officials. They watched competitors compete in Running, Heavy Weights, Solo Piping, Light Field and Solo Dance. There has been an annual gathering at Braemar, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, for over 900 years.
