Commonwealth Forums

Member of the Royal Family have been attending Commonwealth Forums, bringing together representatives from the worlds of business, civil society and government, in the days preceding the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in London on April 19th. 

Day One

On April 16th, Prince Harry attended the Youth Cabinet Roundtable and opening session of the Commonwealth Youth Forum at the QEII Conference Centre, while the Duke of York attended the Commonwealth Science Conference at the Royal Society. In the evening, the Duke of Cambridge attended the Welcome to the UK Reception at the QEII Conference Centre, while the Duke of York hosted Pitch@Palace Commonwealth at St James’s Palace, and the Countess of Wessex attended The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust Reception at Tower Bridge.

Day Two

The following day, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall attended the Big Commonwealth Lunch Forum at the QEII Conference Centre after which he met civil society representatives from the People’s Forum, joined representatives from the Commonwealth Youth Climate Change Network and selected Youth Forum delegates for a roundtable discussion on the work of young people in the Commonwealth on Climate Change, while the Duke of Cambridge attended a joint session of the Commonwealth Business and Youth Forums. The Queen, Prince of Wales, Duke of Cambridge, and Prince Harry also had audiences with the Heads of Government of South Africa, Jamaica, Solomon Islands, Tanzania, Kenya, Dominica, Malawi, Rwanda, and Botswana.

On April 18th, Prince Harry and Meghan attend a reception with Commonwealth Youth Forum delegates at the QEII Conference Centre. Later, the Prince of Wales attended a reception at the closing session of the Commonwealth Business Forum at the Guildhall and joined the Duke of York at the Malaria No More Summit, where the Prince gave the keynote address. The Duchess of Cornwall attended a roundtable meeting and the closing session of Women’s Forum at the QEII Centre. Later, the Prince of Wales hosted a Prince’s Trust International CHOGM Reception in the Gardens of Clarence House. The Queen, Prince of Wales, and Duchess of Cornwall met the Prime Ministers of Canada, New Zealand, and India.

On April 19th, the Queen and Prince of Wales received the Prime Ministers of New Zealand and Pakistan respectively. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended a reception to celebrate female empowerment hosted by Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson at the Royal Aeronautical Society.
