Happy Birthday to Prince Albert II of Monaco, who turns 60 today! The second child and only son of Prince Rainer and Princess Grace of Monaco, he was born the heir to the Monegasque Principality, and counted Queen Victoria Eugenie of Spain among his godparents. Educated in Monaco, the US, and the UK, he competed in the bobsleigh at five consecutive Winter Olympics and has been a member of the IOC since 1985. After a long period as heir, he succeeded his father as the Sovereign Prince of Monaco in 2005. On top of his official duties, Prince Albert supports a number of charitable causes and foundation, including the Princess Grace Foundation-USA and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. In 2011, he married former South African swimmer Charlene Wittstock after a long courtship. The couple have a set of twins, Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella. Prince Albert also has two children born out of wedlock, who are not in-line to the Principality. I wish HSH a very Happy Birthday and Many Happy Returns!
