Wedding of Princess Patricia of Connaught, (wearing the Connaught Pearl Brooch) daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Connaught, and the Hon. Alexander Ramsay, son of the Earl and Countess of Dalhousie, at Westminster Abbey in London on this day in 1919, the first Royal Wedding at Westminster in almost 500 years. The bridal party included her niece Princess Ingrid of Sweden, her nephew the Earl of McDuff, and the Princess Mary. After the wedding, Princess Patricia relinquished her style and title, becoming Lady Patricia Ramsay, her style as the daughter of a Duke. However, she continued to be an active member of the Royal Family, present at many official events. The couple had one son, and remained happily married until his death in 1972. Lady Patricia passed away a year and a half later.
