The Wedding of Crown Prince George of Greece and Princess Elisabeth of Romania in Bucharest on this day in 1921. The wedding, which came soon after the restoration of the Greek Royal Family to the Throne, happened just weeks before the marriage of their siblings, Crown Prince Carol of Romania and Princess Helen of Greece, in Athens. The couple came to the Throne in 1922, after his father was forced to abdicate, until being forced into exile a year later, and settling in her native Romania. The marriage of King George and Queen Elisabeth was very unhappy, they had no children, and were divorced in 1935, right before he was restored to the Greek Throne.
