Happy Birthday to the Countess of Wessex and Forfar! The daughter of Christopher and Mary Rhys-Jones, Sophie Rhys-Jones grew up in Kent and had a career in Public relations. In 1999, she married Prince Edward, the younger son of Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, who was made the Earl of Wessex on their wedding day, and Earl of Forfar in 2019. The couple have two children, Lady Louise Windsor and Viscount Severn. The Countess is one of the most hard working members of the British royal family; she does many official engagements on behalf of the Queen, and is regarded by many as her favourite daughter-inn-law. As the future Duchess of Edinburgh, she actively supports the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and cycled from the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh to Buckingham Palace in London as part of her DoE Diamond Challenge. The Earl and Countess also attend foreign Royal events, most recently the Sultan of Brunei’s Golden Jubilee. We wish HRH a very Happy Birthday and Many Happy Returns!

The Countess became the Duchess of Edinburgh in 2023, upon the conferring of the Dukedom to Prince Edward.
