Queen Juliana (in the Ears of Wheat Tiara) and Prince Bernhard of The Netherlands host a Pre-Wedding Dinner for their daughter Princess Margriet (wearing the Emerald Tiara and Parure) and her fiancée Pieter van Vollenhoven at the Museum De Lakenhal in Leiden on this day in 1967. Princess Beatrix (in Queen Emma’s Diamond Tiara), Princess Irene (wearing the Bourbon-Parma Tiara), and Princess Christina (in the Laurel Wreath Tiara) were also present. The couple got married on January 10th.
Is it true that they had to wait for Princess Beatrix to marry before they could marry or is that an urban legend?
