Danish New Year’s Levee 2018

Queen Margrethe of Denmark, Crown Prince Frederik, and Crown Princess Mary hosted a New Year’s Levees at Christian VII’s Palace, Amalienborg and Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen on January 3rd. Queen Margrethe also hosted a New Year’s Banquet on the 1st.

Queen Margrethe of Denmark, Crown Prince Frederik, and Crown Princess Mary hosted a New Year’s Levee for the Supreme Court and the Officer Corps of the Royal Life Guard and Royal Hussar Guard Regiments at Christian VII’s Palace, Amalienborg which was followed by a New Year’s Levee for the Diplomatic Corps at Christiansborg Palace.

Queen Margrethe wore the fur trimmed navy damask gown she always wears for the event with the brooch from the Pearl Poiré Parure, the Sash and Star of the Order of the Elephant, and the insignia of her other Orders. Crown Prince Frederik wore Uniform with his medals, the Sash and Star of the Order of the Elephant, and the insignia of his other Orders. Crown Princess Mary repeated a purple Lasse Spangenberg cape and gown with the stud earrings from the Ruby Parure, the Sash and Star of the Order of the Elephant, and Queen Margrethe’s Family Order.

  1. Do you know why Queen Margrethe always wears the same outfit to this event? I can understand repeating a gown since they are quite expensive and used very sparingly, but Q. Margrethe has worn this outfit exclusively for 6 or 7 years, maybe more. It’s almost like a uniform, isn’t it!

  2. Wow! That orange dress is one magnificent gown! It will be quite an upgrade from the blue dress she currently uses. 🙂
