Israeli State Visit to Spain

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain welcomed and hosted the President of Israel and Mrs. Nechama Rivlin, who are on a 2-day State Visit to Spain to strengthen political, economic, and diplomatic ties.

In the morning of November 6th, King Felipe and Queen Letizia officially welcomed the President of Israel and Mrs. Nechama Rivlin at an offical welcome ceremony in the courtyard of the Royal Palace in Madrid. During the ceremony, the King and the Israeli President reviewed a battalion of the Royal Guard and viewed a parade.

In the afternoon, King Felipe and Queen Letizia hosted a luncheon for the President and Mrs. Nechama Rivlin at the Palace of La Zarzuela, which was followed by a meeting with the Israeli delegation.

In the evening, King Felipe and Queen Letizia hosted a State Banquet in honour of the President and Mrs. Nechama Rivlin at the Royal Palace of Madrid. Both the King and President gave speeches.

UPDATE- In the evening of November 7th, the President and Mrs. Nechama Rivlin hosted a return reception for King Felipe and Queen Letizia at the Royal Palace of El Pardo, where they viewed a musical performance by the Andalusian Orchestra of Israel.

In the morning, King Felipe wore a dark gray suit with a pale blue tie. Queen Letizia wore a HugoBoss ‘Kusima’ dress. In the evening, King Felipe wore White Tie with the neck badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece, the Sash and Star of the Order of Charles III, and his medals. Queen Letizia wore a black blouse and a repeated Lorenzo Caprile mantón de Manila (Manila shawl) skirt with the Floral Tiara, Queen Sofia’s Pearl and Diamond Earrings, Fleur de Lys Brooch, Diamond Art deco Brooch, ‘Joyas de Pasar’ Bracelets and the Sash and Star of the Order of Charles III. At the reception, King Felipe wore a black suit with a dark blue tie. Queen Letizia wore a black polka-dotted dress with the ‘Joyas de Pasar’ Earrings and a bracelet.

  1. The Queen looks fabulous in that skirt and blouse! She’s wearing what is probably her favorite tiara. It is very pretty and sort of low-key, quite appropriate to wear especially since Mrs. Rivlin was probably not going to wear something very flashy or trendy. The Queen always seemed to look after Mrs. Rivlin, which I find really nice of her.
