Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall in Singapore- Day 2

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall are on an 11-day visit to Singapore, Malaysia, and India from October 30th to November 9th, at the request of the British Government, to celebrate the United Kingdom’s partnership with these Commonwealth Nations on shared priorities in advance of the Commonwealth Summit in April 2018. On November 1st, the Prince and Duchess visited Tiong Bahru, one of Singapore’s oldest neighbourhoods, where they were greeted by a lion dance performance and shown around Tiong Bahru’s wet market, which sells a huge array of fresh produce.

The Duchess of Cornwall visited the Tiong Bahru Community Centre, where she painted a horse and attended a cooking demonstration. Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales toured the Dyson Technology Centre, visited the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, and met with young people at the Garcon Nosh restaurant where at risk youth are given job training and employment opportunities in culinary fields.

In the afternoon, the couple reunited to visit the beautiful Botanical Gardens, to take part in an orchid naming ceremony, for orchards named Dendrobium Duke Duchess of Cornwall. In the evening, the Prince and Duchess attended a reception at the British High Commissioner’s Residence in Singapore.
