Queen at Hyde Park Barracks

Queen Elizabeth II and the Prince of Wales visited the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment at Hyde Park Barracks in London on October 24th.

The Queen and the Prince of Wales arrive together at Hyde Park Barracks and were met by Major General Sir Edward Smyth-Osborne, Commander Household Cavalry. They proceeded to the outside of the forge where the Commanding Officer asked the Queen to name the regiment’s new drum horse. Afterwards, the Queen visited to the stables, where she met Troopers of the Life Guards and The Blues and Royals with their horses. She also listened to a briefing on the latest innovations in equine health.

Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales visited the forge and hear about the Farriers’ Apprenticeship Programme. He also saw the Tack Room, where the Master Saddler outlined the process of preparing for major events. The Prince of Wales also met Troopers of The Blues and Royals. At the conclusion of the visit the Queen and the Prince sat for a photograph with officers and warrant officers.

The Queen wore a blue Stewart Parvin coat and Rachel Trevor Morgan hat, pairing her customary Three Strand Pearl Necklace with Household Cavalry Regimental Badges. The Prince of Wales wore a navy suit with the regimental tie of the Household Division and a pin.
