The Christening of Princess Anne in the Music Room of Buckingham Palace on this day in 1950. As well as the then Princess Elizabeth, the Duke of Edinburgh, King George VI, Queen Elizabeth (also a godmother) , and Queen Mary, also present were Princess Anne’s godparents: Princess Alice of Greece (grandmother, represented by Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone), Earl Mountbatten (uncle of the Duke of Edinburgh), Princess Margarita,Princess of Hohenlohe-Langenburg (sister of the Duke of Edinburgh), and The Hon. Andrew Elphinstone (cousin of Princess Elizabeth, who later officiated at Princess Anne’s first wedding).
