Princess of Asturias Awards 2017

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain are in Oviedo this week to preside over the 2017 Princess of Asturias Awards, and will deliver a series of prizes to individuals, entities or companies from around the world who make notable achievements in the sciences, humanities, and public affairs.

On the evening of October 19th, King Felipe and Queen Letizia attended an orchestral concert on the eve of the Princess of Asturias Awards at the Auditorium in Oviedo. Afterwards, they met the Choir of the Princesa de Asturias Foundation.

On October 20th, King Felipe received the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, at the Hotel Reconquista and then attended a reception for the Award winner with Queen Letizia. Afterwards, the couple received the winner of“Fin de Carrera 2016” at the University of Oviedo. In the afternoon, King Felipe and Queen Letizia were joined by Queen Sofia for the 2017 Princess of Asturias Awards Ceremony at the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo, where King Felipe presented the prizes and gave a speech.

On October 19th, King Felipe wore a striped suit with a purple tie. Queen Letizia wore a navy blue Felipe Varela dress with her Yanes blue topaz chandelier earrings and the diamond bracelets from the ‘Joyas de Pasar’. On the 20th, King Felipe wore a a striped suit with a pale blue patterned tie. Queen Letizia wore a Carolina Herrera dress with her TOUS ruby and emerald earrings. At the ceremony, King Felipe wore a a dark suit with a green tie. Queen Letizia wore an oriental-inspired white and black dress with her Letizia’s De Grisogono black diamond teardrop earrings and her Cartier diamond bracelet.
