Spanish National Day 2017

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain were joined by the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia for Spanish National Day Celebrations on October 12th in Madrid. The Royal family attended a Flag Ceremony, a Military Parade, and later hosted a reception in the Royal Palace of Madrid.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia were joined by their daughters for a ceremony that paid homage to the National Flag in Madrid’s Plaza de Lima, after which they attended the Spanish National Day Military and Air Force Parade, where King Felipe laid a wreath as a tribute to those who have given their lives for Spain. Afterwards, the family returned to the Royal Palace of Madrid, where King Felipe and Queen Letizia hosted the traditional National Day reception for dignitaries in the Throne Room of the Palace.

King Felipe wore Uniform with the Sash of the Order of Charles III and the stars of his other honours. Queen Letizia wore a grey skirt and jacket with pearl earrings and the Countess of Barcelona’s Pearl Brooch. The Princess of Asturias wore a red dress and cardigan and Infanta Sofia wore a pink tweed coat.

  1. Queen Letizia looked the epitome of elegance and sobriety, totally appropriate for the occasion and the times. I especially love the pearl and diamond brooch. I hope she continues wearing more brooches in the future.

    1. It was pointed out to me the significance of wearing the Countess of “Barcelona’s” brooch during the Catalonia issue, so it has a deeper meaning! I hope to see one of the brooches from the Joyas de Pasar soon!
