Queen at Army and Navy Club

The Queen and Princess Royal attended a reception at the Army and Navy Club to mark the Centenary of the Women’s Royal Navy Service and the Women’s Auxiliary Army Corp on October 12th. The Queen is Patron of the WRAC (Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps) Association and the Princess Royal is Patron and supporter of the WRNS Benevolent Trust, Patron of the Association of Wrens and  Patron of the WRNS100 Project. She is Admiral and Chief Commandant for Women in the Royal Navy.

The Queen and Princess Royal were met by the Chairman of Army and Navy Club, Colonel Ian Paterson, on arrival. He presented Commander Rosie Wilson, Chairman of the WRNS100 Project Group and Colonel Alison K Brown, Vice-President of the WRAC Association. The Queen and Princess Royal met Senior Naval and Army members alongside veterans who joined the ATS in 1941 and worked at Bletchley Park until VE Day. They also viewed a photographic display in the Wellington Room, charting the progression of women serving in the Army from 1917 to the current day.

The Queen wore an aquamarine skirt suit, pairing her customary Three Strand Pearl Necklace with the Aquamarine Clip Brooches.

  1. Ahhh, this must have been a treat for Her Majesty! She served in the Women’s Auxiliary Territorial Service during WWII, so she got to meet some of her fellow veterans. She looked wonderful doing it, too! Her daughter the Princess Royal looked very nice too. I think bright green favors her enormously.
