The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh attended the annual Braemar Highland Gathering in Braemar, Ballater, Aberdeenshire on September 3rd. There has been an annual gathering at Braemar, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, for over 900 years.

The Queen was accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, Princess Royal, and Sir Tim Laurence as they were driven to their stand on Royal Deeside, and sat down after meeting officials. They watched competitors compete in Running, Heavy Weights, Solo Piping, Light Field and Solo Dance.

The Queen wore a tweed coat and hat, pairing her customary Three Strand Pearl Necklace with the Braemar Feather Brooch, a Golden Jubilee gift from the Braemar Royal Highland Society. The Duke of Edinburgh wore a tweed suit. The Prince of Wales wore a kilt and the Princess Royal wore a red coat with a Scottish brooch.
