Happy Birthday to Queen Noor of Jordan! Daughter of Najeeb Halaby and Doris Carlquist, she was born in Washington D.C, and grew up in the United States. After graduating from Princeton, she traveled the world, and was working with Royal Jordanian Airlines when she met King Hussein of Jordan, then mourning the death of his third wife. They wed in 1978, when she converted to Islam and took the name Noor Al-Hussein. The couple had four children, including former Crown Prince Hamzah. Queen Noor was widowed in 1999, and now spends her time between Jordan, Washington, D.C., and the United Kingdom, where she carries out an extensive amount of charity work. I wish HM a very Happy Birthday and many Happy Returns!
