The Queen made a surprise appearance when she attended the at the 150th Aboyne Highland Games at Aboyne, Aberdeenshire on August 5th. The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are on their annual holiday at nearby Balmoral Castle.

The Queen met competitors as she officially opened the 150th Aboyne Highland Games, dedicating a new caber with a dram of whisky. She repeated her lilac Stewart Parvin coat over a lilac dress with a Rachel Trevor Morgan hat, pairing her Three Strand Pearl Necklace with the Diamond Art Deco Double Clip Brooch.
