King Haakon VII’s 80th Birthday, 1952

Royal Guests and Relatives from Denmark, Sweden, Britain and Greece joined the Norwegian Royal Family to celebrate the 80th Birthday of King Haakon VII of Norway on this day in 1952, which began with a Luncheon at the Royal Palace of Oslo and a Parade viewed by the Royal Guests.

The highlight of the celebrations was the spectacular Banquet at the Akershus Fortress in Oslo, at which King Haakon was joined by King Gustaf VI Adolph of Sweden, Queen Alexandrine of Denmark (wearing her Fringe Tiara), the Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Ingeborg of Sweden (in her Boucheron Pearl Circle Tiara), Prince George of Greece, Crown Prince Olav and Crown Princess Martha of Norway (wearing the Norwegian Emerald Parure), Princess Margaretha of Sweden and Denmark (in Princess Ingeborg’s Turquoise Star Tiara), Princess Dagmar of Denmark (wearing her Diamond Floral Tiara),  Prince and Princess Viggo of Denmark, Prince George and Princess Anne of Denmark (wearing her Diamond Tiara), and Count Flemming and Countess Ruth of Rosenborg (in her Diamond Tiara) among a host of Royal Relatives from Denmark and Sweden.
