  1. Queen Letizia was stunning once again! What a beautiful midnight blue dress and how well the floral tiara complements her features! The King and Queen of Spain must rate pretty high in the UK since the royal representative to the dinner was the Queen’s daughter, Princess Anne. I have noticed that the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester have been the usual representatives of the Queen in this affair, at least during the past three or four state visits. The Princess Royal was uncharacteristically whimsical that evening, wearing a flowery lacy dress with a full, gathered skirt. It may not be the height of current fashion, but she manages to make it work and I don’t even know how. I guess her beautiful tiara, necklace, earrings, and brooch might have something to do with it! I haven’t said anything about Queen Letizia’s epaulete earrings because even though it’s true they don’t match the tiara, they do match the dress, and maybe that was what she was going for. What’s important is that the overall effect is marvelous! And wasn’t it nice that Princess Anne, Prince Harry and Prince Andrew got some orders during this trip. I am so sad that it’s over!

    1. I’m sad it’s over too, but we can look forward to more State visits from the ‘new monarchs’ of the Netherlands and Belgium. Also, King Felipe and Queen Letizia should undertake more State Visits to other fellow european countries soon!

  2. Oh, yes!I think both royal couples have visited the Queen after they were inaugurated, but they haven’t had a proper state visit. The Queen is done for this year, so it will have to be for 2018. I was reading up on the Order of the Garter and came to find out that the last Belgian king to be honored with it was King Baudouin. For some reason King Albert II did not receive it, so maybe his son King Philip will. And since King Felipe VI was given the order even though his father is still alive, then King Wilhelm-Alexander might be honored with it as well. There was no Garter Ceremony this year because of he elections, so I’m really looking forward to next year’s ceremony.
