Queen at Royal Society of Edinburgh

Queen Elizabeth II visited The Royal Society of Edinburgh on July 7th, where she presented The Royal Society of Edinburgh Royal Medals. Royal Medals are awarded for distinction & international repute in disciplines including Life Sciences, Engineering, Business and the Arts.

The Queen awarded a Royal Medal to Professor Peter Boyle for his outstanding contribution to global cancer control, to Professor Tessa Holyoake receives her  Royal Medal for her contribution to the field of Life Sciences, and conductor Donald Runnicles for contribution to music, which was received on his behalf by Dame Jocelyn Bell Brunel. After the awards, the Queen met past Royal Medalists and David Knott in the exhibition space. She then signed the guestbook underneath a portrait of King George III, before she was presented with two posies and greeted by crowds on her departure.

The Queen wore a floral dress with a pale blue coat and hat, pairing her customary Three Strand Pearl Necklace with Jardine Star Brooch.
