The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall started their 3-day visit to Canada for the 150th Anniversary of Confederation in Iqaluit, Nunavut on June 29th.

Upon their arrival in Iqaluit, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall were officially welcomed by the Governor General and Viceregal Consort. Afterwards, the Prince received military honours, which included the inspection of the Quarter Guard of the Canadian Rangers. The Governor General, Minister of Indigenous and Northern Affairs and the Prince of Wales also gave speeches.

In the afternoon, the Prince visited the Nunavut Research Institute, while the Duchess met local women at a Women and Wellness Event. Later, the couple, along with the Governor General and Viceregal Consort, took part in a community feast at the Sylvia Grinnell Territorial Park during which they viewed exhibitions showcasing Nunavut’s unique environment. They also attended traditional performances, and joined local Elders for tea and bannock.
