Dutch State Visit to Italy- Day 2

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of The Netherlands are on a 4-day State Visit to Italy and the Vatican from June 20-23 to strengthen political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries. Click HERE to take a look at Day 1.

Day 2 of the Dutch State Visit to Italy started by traveling to the Sicilian capital of Palermo, where King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima visited the headquarters of the Police for a briefing on judicial and police cooperation between the Netherlands and Italy in the field of combating human trafficking. Later, at Molti Volti, a center for culture and entrepreneurship, the King and Queen met with administrators, counselors and volunteers who work towards the reception of migrants and migrants issues.

Afterwards, Mayor Leoluca Orlando received King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima in the historic center of Palermo, after which they visited Palazzo Reale, the seat of the Sicilian parliament, including the Cappella Palatina, the former private chapel of the Kings of Sicily. The Royal Couple viewed a monument to the murdered mafia magistrates, Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, in Piazza della Memoria in front of the Courthouse, and then had lunch with the Mayor.

In the evening, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima hosted a Return Concert, which featured Violinist Janine Jansen, at the Palazzo Colonna in Rome for President Mattarella and the Italian authorities. Also present were the King’s aunt, Princess Christiana, and cousin Prince Jaime with his wife, Princess Viktória, of Bourbon-Parma

For the day events, King Willem-Alexander wore a grey suit with a blue tie. Queen Máxima wore a white peplum top and skirt with a Fabienne Delvigne hat, Isabelle Fa necklace, and JAR fan earrings. For the Concert, King Willem-Alexander wore Black Tie. Queen Máxima repeated a pale pink tiered gown with the top section of the Russian diamond brooch and morganite earrings.
