Wedding of Prince Carl Philip of Sweden

Happy Anniversary to Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden, who got married on this day in 2015. The couple have one son, Prince Alexander, and are expecting another child this September. Take a look at scenes from their wedding below-

The wedding ceremony took place in the Royal Chapel at the Royal Palace in Stockholm and was conducted by the Right Reverend Lars-Göran Lönnermark and the Reverend Michael Bjerkhagen. Songs during the service included Coldplay’s “Fix You” and Rhianna’s “Umbrella”.

The newly married couple and their guests processed out of the Royal Chapel to a modern version of Joyful, Joyful.

After the service, Prince Carl Philip and the new Princess Sofia rode through the streets of Stockholm in an open carriage.

Returning to the Royal Palace, the couple waved to the crowds from the balcony, and even gave them a kiss.

The Banquet was held in the Vita Havet Assembly Rooms at the Royal Palace of Stockholm.

After cutting the magnificent cake (which included pop rocks), the couple led the first dance in King Karl XI’s Gallery at the Royal Palace. The reception continued into the wee hours of the morning.

The new Princess Sofia wore a white silk crepe, organza, and lace gown by Ida Sjöstedt with a tulle veil and her new Emerald Tiara, a wedding gift from King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia. Prince Carl Phillip wore the Model 1878 Mess Dress Uniform of the Swedish Amphibious Corps, of which he is a Major, with the sash and star of the Order of the Seraphim and the stars of his other orders.

Queen Silvia wore a pale lilac silk satin dress with the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Tiara, earrings, brooch, a diamond riviere, and the sash and star of the Order of the Seraphim. King Carl XVI Gustaf wore the Model 1878 Mess Dress Uniform of the Admiral of the Fleet with the sash and star of the Order of the Seraphim and his other orders.

Crown Princess Victoria wore a patterned H&M Conscious gown with the Connaught Tiara, pearl earrings, bow brooch, and the sash and star of the Order of the Seraphim. Prince Daniel wore White Tie with the sash and star of the Order of the Seraphim and the neck badge of the Order of the Polar Star.

Princess Madeleine wore an apricot pink dress with the Modern Fringe Tiara, Vasa earrings, bow brooch, and the sash and star of the Order of the Seraphim. Christopher O’Neill wore White Tie with the neck badge of the Order of the Polar Star.
