The Duchess of Cambridge is visiting Luxembourg on May 11th, to participate in the official commemoration for the 150th Anniversary of the 1867 Treaty of London. In honour of the visit, we are flashing back to the Queen and Duke’s State Visit to Luxembourg in November 1976.
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh were welcomed by Grand Duke Jean and Grand Duchess Josephine Charlotte at Findel Airport. On of their first engagements was a visit to the Arbed steel manufacturing site.
In the evening, Grand Duke Jean hosted a State Banquet at the Grand Ducal Palace, in honour of the Queen, who wore her Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara.
The next day, the Queen, Duke, and Grand Ducal Family attended a presentation.
Later, the Queen and Duke visited a city and saw a child riding a rocking horse.
On another evening, the Queen (wearing Queen Alexandra’s Kokoshnik Tiara) hosted a Return Banquet for members of the Grand Ducal Family. Grand Duchess Josephine Charlotte wore the Belgian Scroll Tiara.
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh also went on a walk with the Grand Ducal Family, which was one of their last engagements before they returned to the UK.
