Norway

Queen Sonja

Queen Sonja has a variety of options to choose from. For the 60th Birthday celebrations in 1997, she wore Queen Maud’s Pearl Tiara, while for the 70th Birthday banquet in 2007, she wore the full Emerald Parure. My personal prediction is that she will wear the Emerald Parure again for this special event.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit

Crown Princess Mette-Marit has only two options, the Diamond Daisy Tiara and the Amethyst Necklace Tiara. In 2007, she wore her favourite Diamond Daisy, but I think she should wear another tiara for this important event. She has worn the smaller version of  Queen Maud’s Pearl Tiara previously, so I’m hoping for a repeat of that.

Princess Martha Louise

Princess Martha Louise has worn her 18th Birthday, King Olav’s Gift Tiara, for her parents 60th and 70th Birthdays, so I think we will se a repeat of that again.

Princess Astrid

Princess Astrid wore her Vasa Tiara at the 70th Birthday celebrations in 2007, but I think we will se her wear her, more important, Queen Alexandra’s Turquoise Parure.

Denmark

Queen Margrethe

Queen Margrethe usually wears smaller tiaras for her fellow monarch’s birthdays, she wore the Baden Palmette at King carl Gustaf’s 70th last year, so I predict she will wear the Floral Aigrette, Baden Fringe, or the Turquoise Daisy Bandeau.

Crown Princess Mary

For the 70th Birthday Banquet in 2007, Crown Princess Mary wore her wedding tiara. However, she now has another (lesser formal) option, her necklace tiara, which I predict she will wear at the 80th Birthday Banquet.

Sweden

Queen Silvia

For the 60th Birthday, Queen Silvia wore the Cut Steel Tiara, while for the 70th, she wore the 9-Prong Tiara. Her recent favourite tiara has been the Connaught Diamond Tiara, which is my prediction for the 80th Birthday Banquet.

Crown Princess Victoria

Crown Princess Victoria wore the Baden Fringe Tiara for the 70th Birthday in 2007, and I think she will repeat her favourite again this time. Another option could be Princess Lillian’s Wreath Tiara, which has been worn frequently since last year.

Princess Sofia

This will be Princess Sofia’s first international royal event since her wedding in 2015. Her tiara options are her Wedding Tiara, Cut Steel Bandeau, and the Four-Button Tiara, though I hope to see her wear the Napoleonic Amethyst Tiara again or a new piece from the family vaults.

Netherlands

Queen Máxima

In 2007, then Crown Princess Máxima wore the Antique Pearl Tiara. However, this time, I predict either the Rose Cut bandeau or the Mellerio Ruby Tiara, which are her favourites.

Princess Beatrix

Princess Beatrix wore the large Wurttemberg Pearl Tiara for King Carl Gustaf’s 70th, but I think we will see a return to her favourite Queen Emma’s Tiara at tonight’s banquet.

Princess Mabel

Princess Mabel has only worn one tiara, her Wedding Tiara, since her marriage, including the 70th Birthday Banquet in 2007. We can count on seeing the piece again at the 80th Birthday banquet.

Greece

Queen Anne Marie

At the 70th Birthday Banquet, Queen Anne Marie wore her Emerald Parure, which is her frequent pick. However, I hope to see her Ruby Tiara or the Khedive of Egypt Tiara, just for the sake of variety.

Crown Princess Marie Chantal

Crown Princess Marie Chantal had worn her Fringe Tiara for most events, with a notable exception of Queen Sophie’s Diamond Tiara in 2012, but since it reportedly belongs to her daughter, we can maybe expect to see another tiara on her. I hope for either another appearance of Queen Sophie’s Diamond Tiara or a new-to-her tiara from Queen Anne Marie.

Princess Tatiana

Princess Tatiana wore the Antique Corsage Tiara for her wedding and a few events afterwards. However, in 2015, she wore a loaned tiara from Bulgari. Will we see the Antique Corsage again, or another tiara?

United Kingdom

Countess of Wessex

The Countess of Wessex wore her wedding tiara at her initial royal events, but in recent years, she has worn either the Five Aquamarine Tiara or the Aquamarine Necklace Tiara, which are my two predictions for her.

Lady Elizabeth Shakerley

Lady Elizabeth Shakerley (nee Anson), a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, whose mother was married to Prince George of Denmark, will probably wear the Diamond tiara she wore at her wedding, the 70th birthday banquet, and that originally belonged to Princess Viggo of Denmark.

Belgium

Queen Mathilde

At the 2007 Banquet, then Crown Princess Mathilde wore her Laurel Wreath Tiara. However, now she has a bigger vault, I predict either the Wolfer’s Necklace Tiara, or the bandeau base of the Nine Provinces Tiara.

Luxembourg

Grand Duchess Maria Theresa

At the 70th Birthday banquet, Grand Duchess Maria Theresa wore the Vine Leaves Tiara, which would be my guess for her, along with the Belgian Scroll Tiara.

Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie

For Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie, I predict either Grand Duchess Adélaïde Tiara or the Diamond Vine Leaves Tiara.
