King Harald and Queen Sonja’s 80th Birthday Banquet

King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway hosted a Banquet for foreign royals and guests at the Royal Palace of Oslo on the evening of May 9th, to celebrate their 80th Birthday. The Norwegian Royal Family posed on the Balcony of the Royal Palace Oslo with the Royal Guests and then the King and Queen greeted guests in one of the reception rooms. Afterwards, they all processed through to the Banquet, where King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince haakon, and Princess Martha Louise gave speeches. Members of the Swedish, Danish, Belgian, Dutch, Greek, British, Luxembourgish, and Monegasque Royal Families were present. The Presidents and First Ladies of Finland and Iceland were also present. King Harald wore White Tie with the Order of St. Olav. Queen Sonja wore a lime green lace gown with the Norwegian Emerald Parure Tiara, Necklace, earrings and brooch with the Order of St. Olav.

Crown Prince Haakon wore White Tie with the Order of St. Olav. Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore a white and floral gown with the Vifte Tiara (as a Tiara for the first time), and her pearl and diamond earrings.

Princess Martha Louise wore a Cecilie Melli navy gown with King Olav Gift Tiara and her tanzanite necklace. Princess Astrid wore a white gown with the Queen Alexandra’s Turquoises.

Queen Margrethe repeated her aquamarine lace gown with the Floral Aigrette Tiara, diamond riviere, earrings, and brooch. Queen Anne Marie of Greece wore a blue silk gown with the Ruby Wreath Tiara and Parure.

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark wore White Tie with the Order of St. Olav. Crown Princess Mary wore a Max Mara pink gown with her Necklace Tiara and floral earrings. Crown Prince Pavlos wore White Tie with orders. Crown Princess Marie Chantal wore a floral Valentino gown with her Fringe Tiara. Prince Nikolaos wore White Tie with orders. Princess Tatiana wore a green gown with the Antique Corsage Tiara.

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden wore White Tie with the Order of St. Olav. Queen Silvia wore a navy blue gown with the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Tiara and parure. Crown Princess Victoria wore a blue Elie Saab gown with the Baden Fringe Tiara, diamond epaulette earrings. Prince Daniel wore White Tie with Orders. Prince Carl-Phillip wore White Tie with the Order of St. Olav. Princess Sofia wore a black Oscar de la Renta gown with the Six Button Tiara, diamond earrings, and brooch.

King Philippe of Belgium wore White Tie with the Order of St. Olav. Queen Mathilde repeated a red Armani gown with the Wolfer’s Necklace Tiara, pearl earrings, and diamond brooch.

King Willem-Alexander wore White Tie with the Order of St. Olav. Queen Máxima repeated a Jan Taminiau gown (inspired by the Japanese room in Huis ten Bosch Palace) with the Dutch Sapphire Tiara, sapphire earrings, and the large Dutch Sapphire Bow brooch. Princess Beatrix repeated her paisley gown gown with the Württemberg Ornate Pearl Tiara, pearl earrings, pearl necklace, and brooch. Prince Constantjin of the Netherlands wore White Tie. Princess Mabel wore a Viktor and Rolf gown with the Pearl Button Tiara for the first time and pearl earrings.

The Countess of Wessex wore a (stunning) Suzannah green gown with the Aquamarine Necklace Tiara, aquamarine earrings, and pendent. Lady Elizabeth Shakerly (nee Anson) wore an aquamarine gown with Princess Viggo’s Diamond Scroll Tiara.

Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg wore White Tie with the Order of St. Olav. Grand Duchess Maria Theresa wore a black gown and a YSL pink evening coat (worn previously at CP Haakon’s wedding in 2001) with the Belgian Scroll Tiara. Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume wore White Tie with orders. Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie wore a sequined gown with the Grand Duchess Adélaïde Tiara, sapphire necklace, earrings, and diamond floral brooch.
