Argentine State Visit to The Netherlands

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands are hosting President Mauricio Macri and First Lady Juliana Awada of Argentina on a two-day State Visit from March 27 to 28. On Day 1, the King and Queen officially welcomed their guests, held a reception, attended a business forum, and hosted a State Banquet in the evening. Queen Maxima was born in Argentina and holds dual Dutch-Argentinian citizenship.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima welcomed President Mauricio Macri and First Lady Juliana Awada of Argentina in an Official Welcome Ceremony on Dam Square in Amsterdam at the start of their State Visit to the Netherlands. The King and President reviewed the Guard of Honour. Afterwards, the two couple attended a reception for Dutch authorities and Argentinian dignitaries at the Royal Palace of Amsterdam.

Later, Queen Maxima accompanied the Presidential couple on a visit to the Anne Frank House. In the afternoon, the President and First Lady joined King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima as they attended a Business Forum in the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam, where participants from the public and private sectors discussed ways of promoting economic cooperation. The two couples took part in a roundtable meeting of CEOs.

In the evening, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima hosted a State Banquet at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam in honour of President Mauricio Macri and First Lady Juliana Awada. Both the King and President gave speeches. Princess Beatrix and Princess Laurentien were also present.

For the Day events, King Willem-Alexander wore a dark pinstripe suit with a light blue tie by Salvatore Ferragamo. Queen Maxima wore a three-piece Matthijs van Bergen outfit and a Fabienne Delvigne hat with a large pearl necklace and large pearl button earrings with pearl drops. For the Banquet, King Willem Alexander wore White Tie with the collar of the Order of the Liberator General San Martin and the sash of the Dutch Military William Order. Queen Maxima repeated a Jan Taminiau gown with the Dutch Diamond Bandeau, diamond earrings, brooch, bracelets, and the House Diamond Necklace, worn for the first time since the 1970s.

Princess Beatrix wore a gold evening gown with the Antique Pearl Tiara, pearl earrings, and a pearl necklace. Princess Laurentien wore a dark gown with the Dutch Laurel Wreath Tiara, diamond riviere, earrings, and brooch.
