Royal Guests at the Wedding of Princess Benedikte of Denmark and Prince Richard of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg

Happy Anniversary to Princess Benedikte of Denmark and the late Prince Richard of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg who got married on this day in 1968 in a lavish ceremony at Fredensborg Palace. Royal Guests and Relatives from all over Europe gathered to celebrate the nuptials, which we are featuring up today!

Alongside Princess Benedikte of Denmark (the Bride, wearing the Khedive of Egypt Tiara) and Prince Richard of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (the Groom), the Royal Attendees were led by King Frederik IX (father of the Bride) and Queen Ingrid of Denmark (mother of the bride, wearing the Pearl Poiré Tiara and Parure).

Princess Benedikte’s family also included King Constantine II (brother-in-law) and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece (sister, wearing the Greek Ruby Parure), as well as Princess Alexia of Greece (niece), and also Crown Princess (later Queen) Margrethe (sister, wearing the Alexandrine Drop Tiara and Queen Alexandrine’s Sapphire Parure), and Prince Henrik of Denmark (brother-in-law),

The Swedish Royal Family were represented by Princess Benedikte’s grandfather, King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden, along with Princess Sibylla (aunt, wearing the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Parure),  Crown Prince (now King) Carl Gustav (cousin), Prince Bertil (uncle), Princess Margaretha (cousin, wearing the Swedish Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara), Princess Désirée, Baroness Silfverschiöld (cousin, in her Diamond Tiara), and Princess Christina (cousin, wearing the Connaught Diamond Tiara and Napoleonic Amethyst Parure).

Other Foreign Royal Relatives included King Olav V of Norway (cousin) with Crown Prince (now King) Harald of Norway, Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother (godmother, wearing the Greville Tiara and Greville Emerald Necklace), and Crown Princess (later Queen) Beatrix (wearing the Dutch Sapphire Tiara) and Prince Claus of the Netherlands,  

Prince Richard’s family was represented Margareta, the Dowager Princess of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (mother of the Groom, wearing her Diamond Tiara), Madeleine Tengbom (grandmother, wearing the Turquoise Daisy Bandeau), Prince Robin of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (brother),  Princess Madeleine of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, Countess zu Solms-Laubach (sister, wearing the Hesse Star TiaraPrince Moritz, the Landgrave of Hesse (brother-in-law) and Princess Tatiana of Hesse (sister, wearing the Hesse Ears of Wheat Tiara), and the Duke and Duchess d’Otrante (aunt, wearing the Otrante Amethyst Tiara).
