State Opening of Parliament, 1948

In honour of the 121st Birthday of King George VI, father of Queen Elizabeth II, we take a look at the King and Queen of the United Kingdom at the State Opening of Parliament in 1948. King George VI is wearing uniform with state robes and the Imperial State Crown. Queen Elizabeth (later the Queen Mother) is wearing a Norman hartnell gown with her state robes, the Oriental Circlet TiaraCoronation necklace and earrings with her own Coronation necklace, and Queen Victoria’s Fringe brooch.
