As Thailand proclaims their new King, we take a look back at the Coronation of his father, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Bahadrabith Throne beneath the Great White Umbrella of State in the Baisal Daksin Throne Hall in the Grand Palace in Bangkok, 5 May 1950. King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, the 10th monarch of the Chakri dynasty, also known as Rama X, was anointed King of Thailand in a special ceremony 50 days after the death of the late Thai king. His coronation will not happen until after King Bhumibol’s cremation, expected next year.
