Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels- 8 December 2016

The first session of Sotheby’s December Magnificent Jewels sale in New York features Jewels from the Collection of celebrated philanthropist Marjorie S. Fisher. Among Mrs. Fisher’s jewels with storied and distinguished provenance, are these two diamond tiaras.

Diamond Star Tiara

Property from the collection of Marjorie S. Fisher, Palm Beach

A silver-topped Gold and Diamond Tiara, composed of three diamond-set starbursts, set with numerous old mine-cut diamonds weighing approximately 11.80 carats; each starburst detaches and is fitted with a pendant hook; circa 1890.

Gold and Diamond Star Tiara

Formerly in the collection of Katier Frances Thesiger, Aunt of the great explorer, Sir Wilfred Thesiger

A Gold and Diamond Star Tiara, designed as five starburst jewels, each set with round and rose-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 17.00 carats; accompanied by two tiara fittings, five hair pins set en tremblant, five pendant fittings and five brooch fittings; circa 1890. Formerly in the collection of Katier Frances Thesiger, Aunt of the great explorer, Sir Wilfred Thesiger,  best known for his two travel books, Arabian Sands‘ 1959 and The Marsh Arabs‘ 1964.
