Prince Harry in Barbados

Prince Harry arrived in Barbados on Day 9 of the Royal Visit to the Caribbean. He attended an official welcome, met with the Governor General and Prime Minister, presented Duke of Edinburgh Awards, and visited a children’s home. His 3-day visit will focus around the 50th Anniversary of Independence of Barbados.

Prince Harry thanked the crew on board RFA Wave Knight, where he had been staying for the past few days, before starting his visit to Barbados with an official welcome ceremony and military parade at the Bridgetown Port. He met with the Governor General, His Excellency Sir Elliott Belgrave, before presenting Duke of Edinburgh Award candidates with their Gold Award at Government House. Prince Harry also met Prime Minister Freundel Stuart at his official residence, Ilaro Court, before having lunch at Government House. In the afternoon, he visited the Nightengale Children’s Home, where he met children and staff, and officially opened two new buildings. In the evening, Prince Harry was supposed to attend the reveal of the 50th Anniversary of Independence National Monument but the event was postponed due to a torrential rainstorm.
