Spanish State Visit to Portugal

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain are on a three-day State Visit to Portugal from November 28-30. They attended an official welcome, attended meetings, visited a museum in Porto, and attended a State Banquet in Guimarães. The Duke and Duchess of Braganza were also present.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia were received by officials at the Airport in Porto, before meeting the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, at the Official Welcome ceremony in front of the Municipal Chamber of Porto. King Felipe held a meeting at the Municipal Chamber with the President, while Queen Letizia met with the President of the Portuguese League Against Cancer. Afterwards, they  attended a ceremony in which King Felipe and Queen Letizia received the Key to the City of Porto, before visiting the Serralves Foundation Museum to visit the exhibition “Joan Miró: Materiality and Metamorphosis”. They also attended a private lunch with President Rebelo de Sousa.

In the evening, the President hosted a State Banquet at the Palace of the Duke of Braganza in the town of Guimarães. The banquet was held in honour of King Felipe and Queen Letizia, attended by 150 guests, including the Duke and Duchess of Braganza, the pretender to the Portuguese throne. Both the King and President gave speeches.

For the day engagements, King Felipe wore a dark suit with a pale tie. Queen Letizia wore a pink dress with modern pearl earrings. At the Banquet, King Felipe wore White Tie with the collar of the Order of the Tower and Sword. Queen Letizia wore a black lace Caroline Hererra gown with diamond earrings, a diamond art deco brooch, and the sash of the Portuguese Order of Christ.

The Duke of Braganza wore White Tie with the sash of the Order of the Immaculate Conception of Vila Viçosa. The Duchess of Braganza wore a black gown with a Floral Diamond Necklace Tiara, diamond chandelier earrings, and the sash of the Order of Saint Isabel.
