Spanish Royal family at the Opening of Parliament

Members of the Spanish Royal Family attended opening ceremony of the term of office held at the Lower House in Madrid on November 17th. This is the first Opening of Parliament of King Felipe’s reign, held after Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy began a second term in office, ending a 10-month political deadlock following two inconclusive elections.

King Felipe, Queen Letizia, The Princess of Asturias, and Infanta Sofia attended the Solemn Opening Ceremony of the XII Legislature, a joint session of Parliament, Congress of Deputies and Senate, held at the Palace of the Parliament. King Felipe delivered a speech after the President of the House.After the opening ceremony, the Royal Family viewed a parade of the Association of the Armed Forces.

King Felipe wore a black suit with a maroon tie and the chain of an order. Queen Letizia wore a teal coat with a pair of ruby and emerald Tous earrings. The princess of Asturias wore a grey dress. Infanta Sofia wore a red dress.
