Queen Máxima of the Netherlands celebrated her 50th Birthday last week (for which we covered her Top 5 Jewels), and since celebrations had to be curtailed due to the ongoing Pandemic, we are taking a look back at the then Crown Princess Máxima’s 40th Birthday Concert by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam on this day in 2011.

In addition to the extended Dutch Royal Family, Royal Guests in attendance included the Aga Khan, Crown Prince Philippe and Crown Princess Mathilde of Belgium, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg, Crown Prince Haakon, Princess Martha Louise and Ari Behn of Norway, Crown Prince Pavlos and Crown Princess Marie Chantal with Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana of Greece, and Crown Princess Miriam, Prince Kyril and Princess Rosario of Bulgaria.

  1. So many things have happened since this party. Several people who attended are no longer with us, such as her father. Several princes have become King since then, including her own husband. But it looks like everyone had a good time, especially Queen Maxima, who looks extremely happy during her 40th birthday celebration! Hopefully she’ll be able to celebrate with the same exuberance soon!
