Royal Tour of Canada, 1939

King George VI and Queen Elisabeth (later the Queen Mother) pictured in Ottawa during their 1939 Tour of North America, just after the King personally granted Royal Assent to nine bills in the traditional manner which was still being used in Canada at the time. The Queen is wearing a Norman Hartnell gown with the Oriental Circlet Tiara. Canadian Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King is seen in the background.
