The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spent Day 3 of the Royal Visit to Canada in Bella Bell and Victoria. Their initial engagement of day was canceled due to the rain, but the Duke & Duchess attended a traditional First Nations welcome in Bella Bella, and the dedication of the Great Bear Rainforest. In the evening, back in Victoria, they attended a Black-rod Ceremony and a Reception at Government House.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge started their official public engagements in Bella Bella, a remote Island community in British Columbia. Their aerial tour of the rainforest was canceled due to heavy rain, but they were able to arrive for the Traditional First Nations Welcome ceremony at the Elder’s Lodge of the Hieltsuk community. They were welcomed by members of the Hieltsuk First Nations community, and saw a number of traditional dances performed in a ceremony that lasted an hour longer than expected. Among the First Nations community was a former student of my current teacher, who performed for TRH’s. The Duke and Duchess also received gifts, including blankets and vests.

Their next engagement was at the Great Bear Rainforest in Bella Bella. The Duke and Duchess explored the vast rainforest with a guide, before unveiling a plaque that dedicated the Great Bear Rainforest to the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy and commemorated their visit. The royal couple were also given canoe paddles.

In the evening, after returning to Victoria, the Duke and Duchess attended a Black-rod Ceremony and a Reception at Government House. The Duke saw the Black Rod and the royal couple met with First Nations Chiefs and some local officials.

For the morning engagements, the Duke of Cambridge wore a navy jumper with brown trousers. The Duchess wore skinny jeans, a green jumper, a safari jacket, and boots previously worn in Bhutan. She also wore new Pippa Small earrings. For the evening reception, the Duke wore a navy suit with a red tie. The Duchess wore a red Preen Finella Dress with the Queen’s Maple Leaf brooch and the Soru Jewelry baroque pearls and Swarovski crystals earrings last worn to Wimbledon.
