Christening of Prince Alexander of Sweden

Prince Alexander of Sweden, the son of Prince Carl-Phillip and Princess Sofia, was christened at Drottningholm Palace on September 9th. He was born in April. There was a large Swedish royal presence, including his cousins, the children of Crown Princess Victoria and princess Madeleine.

Prince Alexander was Christened by Archbishop Antje Jackelen in the Royal Chapel of Drottningholm Palace at noon. His godparents are: Crown Princess Victoria (Carl Philip’s sister), Lina Frejd (Sofia’s sister), Victor Magnuson (Carl Philip’s cousin), Jan-Åke Hansson (Carl Philip’s friend), and Cajsa Larsson (Sofia’s friend). After the service, King Carl-Gustav bestowed the sash of the Order of the Seraphim on his baby grandson.

The royals posed outside the chapel after the service. Among those present were the families of Crown Princess Victoria, Princess Madeleine, and the family of Princess Sofia. The parents also posed with the godparents and then in a group photo. After returning to the Palace, Prince Carl Phillip and Princess Sofia received guests, while Prince Alexander slept in the royal cradle.

Princess Sofia wore a white lace suit by Ida Sjöstedt and a pearl headband. Prince Alexander wore the Swedish royal families christening gown first worn in 1906. Prince Carl-Phillip wore uniform. Queen Silvia wore a purple outfit with pearls. King Carl-Gustav wore uniform.

Crown Princess Victoria wore a coral Elie Saab dress with a matching headband. She was carrying Prince Oscar, who was christened in May. Princess Estelle wore a Coral Dress. Prince Daniel wore morning dress. Princess Madeleine wore a floral Erdem dress while her husband, Chris O’Neil, wore morning dress.
