Queen in Northern Ireland

HM the Queen and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh visited Northern Ireland on June 27th and 28th. The Queen and Duke stayed at Hillsborough Castle, which was recently visited by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The Queen had private audiences, unveiled a statue, attended a reception, and opened a new railway station.

On Day 1, the Queen received Northern Ireland’s First Minister, Arlene Foster, and Deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness, for private audiences. HM proved that her famous sense of humor is still intact, despite recent events: Martin McGuinness asked how she was, to which she responded, “Well, I’m still alive, anyway.”

On Day 2, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visited the Giant’s Causeway, unveiled a statue to Victoria Cross recipient Robert Quigg in Bushmills, attended a reception at Portrush Golf Club, and officially opened a new railway station at Bellarena.

On Day 1, the Queen wore a mint green coat and hat with a coordinating floral dress. She paired her customary Three Strand Pearl Necklace with the second appearance of the Diamond Art Deco Double Clip Brooch. The Duke of Edinburgh wore a dark suit with a red tie. On Day 2, The Queen wore a floral dress with a bright green coat and hat. She wore her Three Strand Pearl Necklace with the Triple Diamond Bar Brooch. The Duke wore a navy suit with a dotted tie.
