Order of Garter Service 2016

The Order of the Garter Ceremony is an annual event at Windsor Castle attended by most members of the British Royal Family. The Order, founded in 1348, is the highest Order of English Chivalry. There can only be 24 Knights apart from the Queen and the Prince of Wales.

Usually, there is a procession of Knights of the Garter, from Windsor Castle to St. George’s Chapel, and a carriage ride, but this year, due to the rainy weather, the Royals and Knights arrived and departed in cars. They attended lunch at the Castle and later a service at St. George’s Chapel. Hundreds of well-wishers lined the route.
