Trooping the Colour 2016

The British Royal Family attended the Trooping the Colour, the official birthday of the Queen, in London on June 12th. The Royals rode in carriages to inspect he guards, and then watched a flypast on the Balcony of Buckingham Palace. This was the second event for the Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebrations in June, there was a Thanksgiving Service at St. Paul’s Cathedral on June 11th, and the Patron’s Lunch will be held on June 13th.

The senior Royals gathered at the Palace before setting out in carriages towards Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall, where the Queen inspected the Guards. The Prince of Wales, Princess Royal, and Duke of Cambridge rode behind the Queen’s carriage.  The carriages were accompanied by the Royal Household Cavalry. The national anthem was played as the Queen arrived for the parade. The Queen inspected the guards from a carriage, rather than a horse as she had done in previous years. Later, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh watched the parade from a platform. Later, other Royals made their way back to Buckingham Palace, and gathered on the famous balcony to greet the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh’s carriage, before retreating inside for lunch. There as the Changing of the Guard, after which the public streamed into the Mall, and lined up to await the arrival of the whole family for the flypast.

All the members of the British Royal Family gathered on the Balcony to watch the flypast performed by the Royal Air Force. Princess Charlotte made her debut on the Balcony this year, along with Mike Tindall, the Queen’s grandson-in-law. They stayed on the Balcony or 20 mins, and retreated inside after the flypast.

The Queen wore a bright green Stewert Parvin dress, with her customary three strand pearl necklace and Brigade of Guards Badge. The Duke of Edinburgh wore uniform with a bearskin hat.

The Prince of Wales wore Uniform with a bearskin hat. The Duchess of Cornwall wore a cream outfit with a pale pink hat, and  Pearl Choker with Large Diamond Clasp, and the  Prince of Wales Feathers Brooch. The Duke of Cambridge wore his Irish Guards Uniform. the Duchess of Cambridge repeated the Alexander McQueen dress from Princess Charlotte’s Christening, with a pale pink Phillip Tracey hat and new earrings. prince George wore the outfit worn by Prince William at the Christening of Prince Harry in 1984. Princess Charlotte wore a pink dress. Prince Harry wore Uniform.

The Earl of Wessex wore Scottish Uniform, and the Countess wore a grey dress with pale floral hat. Lady Louise Windsor wore a white dress with a blue cardigan, while her brother wore a navy suit. Princess Beatrice wore a navy dress with an orange hat, while Princess Eugenie wore a dark green dress with a straw and floral hat. Autumn Phillips wore bright blue, while Zara Tindall wore an elegant white dress with a maroon hat.
