The Queen and members of the British Royal Family attended services on the eve of Centenary Celebrations for the Battle of the Somme on June 30th. The Queen and Duke attended a service during the overnight vigil at Westminister Abbey. The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry attended a vigil at the Thiepval Memorial in France. Prince Harry hosts the Sentebale Concert

Prince Harry held a concert at Kensington Palace for his charity, Sentebale, on the evening of June 28th. The highlight of the evening was a performance by Coldplay.Other performers included Laura Mvula and Prince Harry’s friend Joss Stone. The money from the event will support Sentebale’s work helping vulnerable children in Lesotho, in particular it work at the Mamohato Children’s Centre which offers psychosocial support to children living with HIV. Wedding of the Hon. Alexandra Knatchbull

The wedding of the Honorable Alexandra Knatchbull, daughter of Lord and Lady Brabourne and granddaughter of Countess Mountbatten, married Thomas Hooper at Romsey Abbey on June 25th. The Prince of Wales walked the bride, a goddaughter of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, up the aisle, and the wedding was attended by a host of British and Foreign Royals. Alexandra is the great-granddaughter of the famous Lord Mountbatten, the last viceroy of India, and the family still maintain their ties with Royalty of Europe.  Continue reading

Dufferin Tiara

The Dufferin Tiara belongs to the Anglo-Irish Marquess Dufferin & Ava. The Tiara was commissioned in the 1860s for the wife of the first Marquess, and has subsequently been worn by Marchionesses of Dufferin at grand events. The Tiara is composed of large diamond shamrocks over a diamond base with pear-shaped pearls over diamond floral clusters. Continue reading

Luxembourg National Day Gala 2016

The Luxembourg National Day Gala is the grandest annual event of the small country. Members of the government, the bureau of the Chamber of Deputies, the Council of State, representatives of the judiciary, heads of the administration and foreign ambassadors are invited to the event. Duchess of Gloucester’s Tiaras

Happy Birthday to HRH the Duchess of Gloucester, who turns 70 today. The Danish-born Birgitte Eva Henriksen didn’t expect to become Duchess when she married Prince Richard of Gloucester, a cousin of the Queen Elisabeth II, in 1972, but the death of his brother, Prince William, six weeks after the wedding, and his father two years later, brought the couple to the center of the Royal stage.
