Following her Golden Jubilee Gala and Banquet as well as the Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark tested positive for covid, and thus Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary presided over tonight’s Banquet and Ball at Christiansborg Palace, which mark the end of Queen Margrethe’s Golden Jubilee.

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary hosted a Banquet and Ball at Christiansborg Palace for members of the Danish Government, Folketing, and Danish members of the European Parliament on the evening of September 23rd. The Banquet is held once every Parliamentary Term, with the last one held in 2018. After the Banquet in the Great Hall of the Palace, the Royal Family and their guests moved on to a Ball at the Knight’s Hall. Princess Benedikte was also present.
Crown Prince Frederik wore White Tie with the Neck Badge of the Order of Dannebrog and the Sash and Star of the Order of the Elephant. Crown Princess Mary repeated a David Andersen gown with her Wedding Tiara, Diamond Fringe Earrings, the Sash and Star of the Order of the Elephant and Queen Margrethe II’s Royal Family Order.
Princess Benedikte wore a purple gown with her Floral Tiara, Diamond Rivière and Amethyst Brooch with the Sash and Star of the Order of the Elephant.

I’m surprised to see that Prince Joachim and Princess Marie were not at the ball. They’re probably back in France? Princess Benedikte was there, as the steady support she has always been to her sister. I would have liked to see CP Mary’s wedding tiara in the pearl form, but I guess she wanted to keep it low-key. This ghastly virus is so unpredictable. Both Queen Margrtehe and CP Frederick attended the exact same events in the UK, but the Queen got COVID, while he didn’t! I wish a speedy recovery to Queen Margrethe. She’s the only queen regnant now. Congratulations on her Golden Jubilee!
