The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh were joined by the Queen Mother as they supported the Duchess of Windsor at the Funeral of the Duke of Windsor, former King Edward VIII, at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on this day in 1972 (50 years ago). Other members in attendance included King Olav of Norway, the Prince of Wales, Princess Anne, Princess Margaret and the Earl of Snowdon, Earl Mountbatten of Burma, the Duke of Kent and Prince Richard of Gloucester. The Duke had passed away only ten days after a visit from the Queen in Paris, and after not being welcomed by the Royal Family for 35 years, the Duchess was hosted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
