Princess Nora, Marchioness of Mariño

Happy Birthday to Princess Nora of Liechtenstein, Dowager Marchioness of Mariño and Countess of Rietberg, who turns 70 today! The fourth child and only daughter of Prince Franz Joseph II of Liechtenstein and Countess Georgine ‘Gina’ von Wilczek, making her the only sister of Prince Hans Adam II, she grew up at Vaduz Castle in Liechtenstein and at extensive family estates in Austria. Princess Nora studied at the University of Geneva and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, and has worked for the World Bank and the International Institute for Environment and Development. A member of the International Olympic Committee since 1984, Princess Nora was president of Liechtenstein’s National Olympic Committee from 1982 to 1992 and has been president of Special Olympics Liechtenstein since 2002, in addition to being the Chief Scouting Guide of Liechtensteinische Pfadfinderinnenkorps Santa Maria from 1973 to 1989 and an honorary member of the Scout association. In 1988, Princess Nora married Don Vicente Sartorius y Cabeza de Vaca, Marqués de Mariño, a Spanish Aristocrat who was an Olympian, and the couple had one daughter: María Teresa Sartorius y de Liechtenstein, before his death in 2002.
