Thai State Visit to Belgium, 1960

King Baudouin of Belgium welcomed King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit of Thailand on this day in 1960, at the start of their State Visit to Belgium, the highlight of which was a State Banquet hosted by the Belgian King (wearing the Order of the Royal House of Chakri) in honour of the Thai King (in the Order of Leopold) and Queen (wearing her Floral Bandeau Tiara and the Order of Leopold) at the Royal Palace of Brussels.

King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit (in the Diamond Fringe Necklace) also hosted a Return Dinner for King Baudouin, which marked the end of the visit. Belgium was a stop on King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit’s monumental State Visits around Europe in the Fall of 1960, which included visits to the United KingdomGermany, Portugal, Switzerland, DenmarkNorwaySweden, Italy, the Vatican, France, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, and Spain, eventually ending in November with their return to Thailand.
