Thai State Visit to the Vatican, 1960

King Bhumibol Adulyadej (wearing the Order of the Rajamitrabhorn and the Order of the Royal House of Chakri) and Queen Sirikit of Thailand (in her Floral Bandeau Tiara and the Order of the Royal House of Chakri) have an Audience with Pope John XXIII at the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City during their State Visit to the Vatican on this day in 1960. Vatican City was a stop on King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit’s monumental State Visits around Europe in the Fall of 1960, which included visits to the United KingdomGermany, Portugal, Switzerland, DenmarkNorwaySweden, Italy, the Vatican, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, and Spain, eventually ending in November with their return to Thailand.
